Bookstore

Click here to go directly to the New River CTC Bookstore online

Starting with the fall 2016 semester, New River CTC is partnering with MBS Direct to offer bookstore services completely online.  The online bookstore accepts all major credit cards along with PayPal. SFA vouchers are also an option for students who qualify.  More information can be found on our Frequently Asked Questions page. At this time, New River CTC does not have a physical bookstore at any of its locations.

To use financial aid to purchase books through the virtual bookstore students should use their student ID number (including the zeros) to log in and the abbreviation for the term (example: FA18 or SP18) followed by their date of birth for their voucher number, example: FA18ddmmyyyy*. The option to use financial aid to purchase books will be disabled approximately two weeks after the start of classes.

*The day of birth first, then the month and year.

Course Schedule Information

Please refer to the General Schedule Information for important dates as well as tuition/fee information. The schedules on this page include courses offered at all New River CTC locations.

Final Exam Schedule for Spring 2018

For the most current information (it is updated in real time), you may now access our Interactive Course Schedule database to sort, query and interact with the data to locate specifically the course information you need. Because the schedule changes so frequently, any printed version is already out of date but this interactive version has the most current information. You can use the interactive database to find all the MATH 100 courses or all the courses offered just on the Nicholas County campus. You could even query to find only the courses offered at 1000 hours (10AM) or maybe just the completely online (WEB) courses. For information regarding the best web browsers to use with the Interactive Course Schedules, please see this information.

Interactive Course Schedules

We also provide all-on-one-page versions of the schedules, as well as the IVN courses separated from all the other courses in a graphical display to quickly see where the IVN courses are scheduled. New River CTC offers courses in a number of Instructional Methods that include distance education (Blackboard and IVN courses).

Student Handbook

2017 - 2018 Student Handbook

Financial Aid Disbursement and Refund

Student Financial Aid is packaged as soon as a student provides all requested documentation to the Financial Aid office.  Once the student's financial aid is packaged and the student is registered for class, fully admitted by the Admission department, and in good standing with the institution aid may be memoed to the student's account.  The memoed aid/credit balance is uploaded to the bookstore by the business office.  The student may access this credit balance to purchase books and supplies.

Disbursement of funds will occur once the Financial Aid Office has determined eligibility and authorized the Business Office to apply payments to student accounts.  They then calculate the difference between a student's account charges and the amount of financial aid disbursed.  This difference is the amount of a student's refund.

Disbursement occurs 10 days prior to the first day of class.  Then disbursement occurs after the student's financial aid is packaged and the student is registered for class, fully admitted by the Admission department, and in good standing with the institution.

The first financial aid refund check distribution date is the third Thursday of each semester. If a student does not have a refund check on the first distribution date, they may have one the following week depending on when their financial aid is processed. The Business Office processes a new batch of refund checks every Thursday. Please note once the refund check is processed the credit balance is no longer available in the bookstore.  We are required by federal regulations to monitor student attendance. The Business Office pulls an attendance report each week, and if your attendance is not verified, we cannot release your refund check. If there is a mistake in your attendance information, you will be referred to the Dean’s office. If the Dean can determine you have been attending, he or she will sign a form so the Business Office can release your check. Students are required to bring a photo ID before the Business Office can release their check.
