New River will be processing financial aid for its students beginning Fall 2009. Check out the links below for general information about how and when you’ll hear about your financial aid for 2009-10. Our goal is to help you finance your education through all available means – federal, state, local and institutional funds. If you don’t find the answers to your questions, contact any of us for help with your financial aid regardless of which campus you attend. You may also email the Financial Aid Office at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The counseling may be done online at http://www.dl.ed.gov Master Promissory NotesIf this is your first Direct Loan, your Master Promissory Note (MPN) will be available at http://www.dlenote.ed.gov within a week after you accept the loan. You will need your FAFSA PIN. Results will be sent electronically to New River CTC. If you want to sign a paper version of your master promissory note, contact our office. A valid MPN with references and valid signature must be completed before any loan funds will be disbursed to your account. Financial Aid Refund ChecksSpring 2010 Semester The first disbursement of Financial Aid Refund Checks will be available on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Beckley, Greenbrier, and Summersville campuses. Starting the following week, Financial Aid Refund Checks will be available each Thursday at Beckley, Greenbrier and Summersville campuses, for students whose files were recently completed. Checks not picked up will be mailed to students at local mailing addresses Friday mornings. Please be sure your mailing information is current. All charges will be deducted from refunds, including any Virtual Bookstore charges, before the refund is issued. No ‘bookstore allowance’ will be automatically withheld from your refund if you do not choose to use the online bookstore. You must be enrolled at least half-time (six hours or more) to be eligible for loans and full time for some grants, such as WV Grant and Promise. Enrollment will be checked prior to checks being available and financial aid recalculated based on new enrollment information through the end of the add/drop period on January 25, 2010. You may owe money back to New River CTC if you reduce your enrolled hours after a refund check is issued. Please contact the Financial Aid Offices at 1-304-929-5473 OR 1-304-883-2428 if you have questions.
