One of the most important aspects of any institution of higher education is its academic services, and New River Community and Technical College is no exception. We are proud to be able to bring you a quality education at an affordable price. In this area you can find specific information about our academic services, including the college catalog and student handbook, schedules for current classes, and requirements for degree and certificate programs.

Degrees and Certificate Programs: A list of degree and certificate programs offered at New River. Each program listed links to short description of the program and the classes that are required to successfully pass. This is an excellent reference for current students needing to check class requirements for their current program or perspective students wanting to check what each program involves.

Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment: We understand that some high school students may want to begin their college experience as soon as possible. This area has information for high school students interested in obtaining dual high school and college credit by taking college classes through New River.

General Course Policies: Important information about courses and classes listed on the website and school catalog.

Program Advising: This area has information about program advisors, which are faculty members assigned to each student. It lists tasks that your advisor can help with, and has information on how to change advisors.

Request for Transcripts: There are two types of transcript requests. Unofficial transcripts are free of charge and may be requested by completing an online form. Official transcripts may be requested by downloading a form, printing it, and either faxing or mailing it in with the $5 fee included for each copy requested.

Official Transcripts - Download the Request for Transcripts form and open it with Acrobat Reader. Print the form and complete it. If this is your first request for transcripts, write “no charge” beside the “Amount paid” field and write “1st request” beside the “Date Paid” field. When completed, fax the form to the Office of the Registrar at New River(304-647-6561). There is no charge for your first transcript request.

If this is not your first request, there is a charge of $5 for each transcript requested. You need to mail your request to the address on the form and enclose a check or money order in the amount of $5.00 (five dollars) for each transcript, made payable to “New River Community and Technical College”.

Unofficial Transcripts – Start by going to the Web Self-Service page and then click on the following links:

1) Enter Secure Area (you’ll be prompted to enter your User ID and PIN)
2) Student and Financial Aid
3) Student Records
4) Academic Transcript

Special Services: New River offers other services to students, and this area lists them with some information about each one. These services include the bookstore, developmental courses, the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), services for disabled students, and off-campus courses.

Student Handbook: The student handbook contains information especially relevant to our students. This includes information on student organizations, the rights and responsibilities expected of students, and college policies.

Workforce Training and Continuing Education Programs: This area contains information that is relevant to anyone interested in taking classes for the purpose of improving your skills for a job or continuing your education. New River offers classes on a variety of topics, which you can look up in this area.
