[GHENT, W. VA.] New River Community and Technical College will offer a unique Metal Art course beginning Oct. 1 at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent, W. Va. Classes will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. through Nov. 5.
Metal Art combines metalworking with imagination in a safe and fun environment. Students will use an oxy-fuel torch, plasma cutter and weld basics in one of a variety of welding disciplines. Participants will produce a project to take home
The class will be taught by New River welding instructor Brad Veneri. He is an American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator as well as Certified Assistant Welding Inspector and has more than 20 years of welding experience. Veneri attended WVU at Parkersburg, where he earned an associate degree in welding technology.
The tuition includes materials, use of machinery and the use of some personal protective equipment. Each student will leave with basic cutting and welding knowledge as well as the know-how to transform ideas from imagination into metal.
