[Lewisburg, W. Va.] The Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg, W. Va., will celebrate Student Appreciation Week April 21-25 with a number of events including two special performances that are open to the public free of charge.
On Monday, April 21, Adam DeGraff will demonstrate his virtuosity on the rock violin in a program at 1 p.m. in the Student Lounge on the ground floor of Greenbrier Hall.
Lewisburg-based DeGraff is a violinist, composer, teacher, and farmer who spent the first part of his career as a professional orchestral musician. Since then, he has been experimenting with rock violin, song writing, alternative music education and traditional organic farming practices. Prepare to give your funny bone a workout on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. when stand-up comic Jay Harris brings Jay's Birthday Show to GVC. That program will also take place in the Student Lounge.
Harris lives in Chicago and works full-time as a stand-up comedian while moonlighting as a financial advisor. His dream is to work 9-5 at offices around the country. He has worked with such comics as Billy Gardell, Andy Kindler, and Greg Giraldo, and has entertained various divisions of the Marines, Army, Navy, and National Guard.
