New River Community and Technical College offers various accommodations and services for students with disabilities. Students must self identify, by completing the self-identification form, and they must also complete an application for accommodations and services form listing specific requests for accommodations that will be considered after institutional review of appropriate documentation. The provision of accommodations will be contingent upon appropriate documentation of a disability. And the provision of services will be contingent upon availability of resources associated with said service.
Some examples of accommodations offered include: extended time for exams, extended time for in-class assignments, isolated test administration, taped lectures, an assigned note taker, and preferential seating. Some services offered include individualized tutoring, which is contingent upon availability of qualified tutors.
Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Program Coordinator, Joseph Connard, to begin the process of completing the appropriate documentation for consideration of accommodations.
